March is here, with its usual unpredictability, and the Astralón team shares its favorite songs of the past few months.

Here we are again. «Μάρτης, γδάρτης και κακός παλουκοκαύτης» — or as the English say, “March comes in like a lion and goes out like a lamb.” While the cold still lingers, we look back at the songs that kept us company through the winter months.

From the unexpected TikTok hit by Aphex Twin, “QKThr” (released back in 2001!), to new offerings from Gorillaz and Gnarls Barkley, and from War Child’s new compilation to Bruce Springsteen’s fierce anti-ICE protest track “Streets of Minneapolis” — there’s something here for every mood. Nu-jazz and soul from Alfa Mist, SAULT, and Moodymann; indie gems from Marta Del Grandi, bar italia, JJerome87 & alt-J, and some beloved David Byrne tracks to warm us up ahead of his Athens concert this summer. Plus two brilliant covers: Calibro 35’s take on “Vitamin C” and Matt Berninger of The National putting his own stamp on “Blue Monday.” And as always, expect a handful of powerful hip-hop and dancefloor moments too.
