Vassiliki Koukou Brings Her Mesmerizing Vibrantly Colored World To Astralón!
In anticipation of her upcoming solo exhibition, Vassiliki Koukou graciously curated our new front cover.
Vassiliki is an extraordinary creature, seamlessly balancing her boundless creativity with a keen organizational acumen. She passed by our office on a rainy day, wearing an ΕΜΣΤ x Athens Kallithea FC T-shirt, her wonderful jewellery and filling the space with vibrant colors. She was kind enough to collaborate with us and prepare this fertile and floral artwork.
Vassiliki Koukou came to this mythical and magical world in 1996. She graduated from A’ Painting Lab of Athens School of Fine Arts (BA & Integrated Master, Painting), under the supervision of Angelos Antonopoulos. She attended courses in ceramics, scenography, printmaking and photography. In 2019 she was one of the winners of Rosa’s Luxemburg Foundation Awards, Greece and Berlin, and in 2020 she won the second award of “Gre-Taste: The taste of Greece” from B&M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music. In 2017 she was a performer for Documenta 14 and in 2020 she curated and performed “A Metamorphosis?” for Performance Rooms Kappatos gallery, in St. George Lycabettus Hotel. In 2022, she participated in the music video “Who am I”, by the singer Olina. She has created the educational program “Street ART” for B&M Theocharakis Foundation for the Fine Arts and Music. She participated in workshops approaching art as therapy for people with mental illnesses.
Since 2020, she has been imparting her expertise in visual arts at the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation, Athens College. Her artworks grace private collections both in Greece and abroad.
Vassilikis’ latest solo exhibition, titled “Where Flowers are Singing,” will be hosted at the Zoumboulakis Galleries from April 25 to May 25, 2024.
