November rains bring intriguing contemporary art events and new exhibitions by fascinating artists.

Winter has almost come and art is making its appearances even more intense. We have selected four cultural excursions focusing on visual arts in Athens and Thessaloniki.

“how to host a rawmantic dinner party”
Artist: Sofia Rozaki
Location: Alibi Gallery, Athens
Duration: 4/11/2021 – 18/12/2021

The exhibition presents new works that negotiate the seemingly trivial – body parts, everyday habits, and little demons. Striking a fragile balance between pictorial mastery and a queer glitch aesthetic, Rozaki captures her generation’s perspective of contemporary lived experience as increasingly filtered and informed through the digital.

“how to host a rawmantic dinner party” is the artist’s fourth solo show and consists of a new body of work that is presented for the first time. Created for the most part within conditions of confinement in 2020-’21, it bears testimony of a time when the world came to a standstill and we set out to notice the bare essentials, daily habits, and ways of (co)existing.

CLUB VERSUS
Artist: Orestis Lazouras
Location: ERGO Collective Space
Duration: 19/11/2021 – 28/11/2021

Orestis Lazouras is taking over the space of ERGO Collective for the month of November. For his residency, he is exploring the recreation of speculative memories, as borrowed from one of Cyprus’ most visionary club spaces of the 2000’s, the Versus Club. Versus also stands as a form of comparison between two or more elements or materials.

The one-month residency will be finalized with the opening of the solo exhibition CLUB VERSUS on the 19th of November, followed by a performance by Kim Shisha, Orestis Lazouras’ music alias.

If Anything Survives – Archaeologies, Utopias & The Void
Artist: Alkistis Mavrokefalou, Eleanna Balesi, Augustus Veinoglou, Vaggelis Savvas, Dimitris Merantzas, Dimitris Georgakopoulos, Lera Kelemen, Robert Gschwantner, Andreas Papastergiou
Writers: Alexander Platis, Macklin Kowal
Location: Exarcheia
Duration: 11/11/2021 – 20/11/2021

The idea of this exhibition presupposes archeology of the future. We assume that our world no longer exists, but some others – or ourselves in a future version of it – discover and study the objects that have been rescued and try to read their meaning. In this sense, after the end remains what we can imagine and that was the discussion that took place with each artist to find out how everyone interprets this script.

The proposed route starts from the building on Eressou Street, which houses the Archaeologies. There, visitors will see works that interpret the part of discovery, realism, elements. The second part, Utopias, is at the top of Ypsilon publications. Finally, the third section dealing with the Void is exposed in the Potential Project.
